Requirements
  • Experience as a MESM Category A2 or Category B operator.
  • Experience working in the commercial industry in support of the submarine enterprise.
  • Knowledge of submarine whole-boat or nuclear safety cases and safety analysis techniques, including HAZID, hazard management, functional hazard assessment, categorisation, and classification.
  • Experience in risk management and reduction, including ALARP assessments.
  • Familiarity with technical assurance and governance.
  • Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status, or evidence of working toward this status for more junior roles.
  • Ability to satisfy clearance criteria for United Kingdom National Security Vetting.
Responsibilities
  • Produce safety case documentation to underwrite operation of the naval nuclear reactor plant.
  • Optimise the scope for maintenance periods.
  • Assess submarine commission and life extensions.
  • Support AUKUS-related work.
  • Perform embedded client roles supporting all classes of submarines.
  • Conduct safety hazard analysis to inform the design of future submarines.
  • Provide technical oversight to support civil nuclear power stations during planned maintenance outages.
  • Provide submarine subject-matter, suitably qualified and experienced personnel support for facility engineering and future-proofing critical shoreside infrastructure.
