A Day in the Life

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

We are seeking a seasoned Power BI developer to join our team. As a Principal HR Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced Power BI solutions that will enable leaders across Medtronic to make data driven decisions around our most valuable asset – our people. 

Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Design and develop advanced Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards, ensuring end-to-end automation to eliminate manual work
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate these needs into visually appealing Power BI solutions that deliver business value
• Work with internal team, including data engineers and business analysts, to align on project requirements and ensure successful project delivery
• Work jointly with other Power BI developers to create and maintain standards and a consistant look and feel across the HR Power BI catalog
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure data accuracy and integrity
• Maintain clear documentation for all Power BI development
• Continuously improve and optimize existing Power BI solutions to enhance performance and user experience
• Stay up to date with the latest Power BI features and trends

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
• 12+ years of proven experience as a Power BI developer or similar role
• Extensive experience in developing and optimizing Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and report development
• Strong understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts
• Proficiency with SQL and the ability to write complex queries

NICE TO HAVE: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake or Data Bricks
• Familiarity using wireframing tools like Balsamiq or Mokkup.ai
• Understanding of Power Automate for data workflow automation
• Experience working with and visualizing Human Resources data
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong project management skills with the ability to switch between assignments and work to deadlines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional and remote teams
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Motivation for process improvement and personal development
