Your New Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Backup and Data Protection Engineer to join our Digital Modernisation Division, working in complex, multi-vendor technology environments alongside a collaborative and supportive team. This role focuses on data protection and cyber recovery controls, enabling mission continuity, audit compliance, and ransomware readiness. You’ll play a key role in optimising data protection services across hybrid environments while contributing to continuous improvement and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise backup and data protection services, ensuring resilience and recoverability outcomes.

• Manage and optimise Commvault backup solutions, overseeing configuration, monitoring, and resolution of backup and recovery issues.

• Support and implement scalable backup strategies across cloud and on-premises environments aligned to business requirements and RPO/RTO objectives.

• Drive cyber resilience practices including secure storage, access control, monitoring, and response to backup and recovery incidents.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to deliver governance, compliance, documentation, and continuous improvement across data protection services.

About You and What You'll Bring

• Experience administering and optimising Commvault backup and recovery solutions within enterprise environments.

• Strong understanding of backup strategies, disaster recovery principles, and cyber resilience practices such as immutability and ransomware protection.

• Technical capability across hybrid environments, including on-premises, virtualised, and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).

• Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, REST APIs, or infrastructure-as-code) to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

• A collaborative and structured problem-solver with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and engage effectively with stakeholders.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be able to gain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance.
