  • 5+ years of experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or software development
  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining data services on RDBMS and distributed databases with 3+ years of work on data modeling
  • Familiarity with design and maintaining high availability cloud-based database systems in GCP or another cloud platform
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and experience working in distributed production environment
  • A great understanding of how complex systems work and not afraid to dive deep into each component
  • Comfortable with coding in Python, PHP, Hacklang, Go, or similar languages to automate repetitive tasks and the ability to rewrite application code to enhance our data management strategy
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and IAC tools like Terraform and Helm

Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage and scale our data layer to be resilient and performant
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to make architectural decisions and advise on data modeling
  • Apply best practices to raise database reliability awareness
  • Provide database expertise to analyze query for optimization and database tuning
  • Improve our load testing and capacity planning frameworks
  • Take charge of our object relational mapping (ORM) code in applications
  • Monitor and support the use of our data layer which consists of both RDBMS and streaming technologies
  • Handle operational challenges through on-call rotation and provide production incident assistance
  • Enhance our visibility into data layer workflows and workloads, help us maintain database SLOs
  • Work on database infrastructure automation and self-service tools
