Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on project experience developing manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D computer-aided design, with SOLIDWORKS preferred.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal design, welded structures, and vehicle systems.
  • Ability to manage large assembly models and drawings.
  • A solid understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical engineering fundamentals, structural analysis, and failure modes of complex mechanical systems.
  • Prior ownership of a complex component or assembly from initial design through medium-to-high-volume production ramp.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
  • Exposure to production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment, including motion systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, injection molders, and die casters.
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Eligibility to work under U.S. Government export regulations as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or an individual eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Responsibilities
  • Design structures and ground systems integral to the launch and control of flight vehicles.
  • Own designs through the manufacturing process, including basic structural analysis, process development, and defining validation requirements.
  • Co-develop product requirements through trade studies to drive system-level optimization.
  • Create intricate and detailed models and engineering drawings in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Conduct testing and iteration cycles to ensure reliability and robust performance across environments and operational scenarios.
  • Continuously develop manufacturing processes to achieve high-rate, high-yield, and dependable production.
  • Establish and manage the product lifecycle from supply chain sourcing through final assembly and integration, balancing cost efficiency, production complexity, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with partner teams to develop and operate an optimized in-house manufacturing line.

Singularity Defense designs and manufactures affordable, scalable air defense systems. It focuses on ground-launched missile interceptors and handles in-house design, development, and production of all subsystems, using commercial components and an automotive-style assembly process to enable rapid, high-volume manufacturing. The interceptors are designed to detect, track, and intercept incoming drones and missiles to protect military assets and personnel. The company differentiates itself by tightly controlling subsystems, avoiding traditional defense supply chain bottlenecks, and scaling production quickly through a repeatable manufacturing line, backed by frequent flight tests. Its goal is to provide capable, cost-effective defense against inexpensive aerial threats and to secure U.S. government contracts and funding for broader defense adoption.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Khosla Ventures, Felicis, NEA, and Menlo Ventures validate the 2026 launch.
  • Multiple flight tests monthly signal real hardware momentum, not slideware.
  • Military advisers and lobbying for FY2026 appropriations strengthen federal-path access.

What critics are saying

  • The interceptors remain in development; no public production contract exists yet.
  • Heavy secrecy limits customer proof, slowing adoption before rival defenses scale.
  • If Ukraine or Pentagon evaluations fail, Singularity loses its existential credibility.

What makes Singularity Defense unique

  • 2026 stealth exit with $80 million Series A and $400 million valuation.
  • In-house interceptors use commercial parts, solid-fuel motors, and automotive-style assembly.
  • Multiple flight tests monthly target rapid iteration against drones and missiles.
