Requirements
  • An MD or Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree or foreign equivalent and eligibility to obtain an unrestricted state medical license.
  • Completion of an accredited internal medicine residency program and infectious diseases fellowship.
  • Board certification in internal medicine by the time of appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Practice in the areas of Infectious Diseases with additional responsibilities as Hospital Epidemiologist for J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
  • Provide leadership to promote the safety of patients, personnel, trainees and visitors; decrease the risk for healthcare associated infections to the irreducible minimum by limiting unprotected exposure to pathogens throughout WVUH; minimize the risk of transmission of infections associated with the use of procedures, medical equipment and medical devices.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two-year accredited fellowship in Infectious Diseases.
  • Clinical responsibilities including a highly active in-patient and ambulatory care program including outreach.
  • Section’s educational programs include a Global Health and Tropical Medicine Program.
