Responsibilities
  • Accurately weighs, measures, and fortifies MHM and/or PDHM for infant feedings per provider’s orders
  • Accurately weighs, measures, and prepares special infant and/or pediatric feedings per provider’s orders
  • Calculates accurate quantities of MHM and/or PDHM, human milk fortifiers, and infant/special formulas based on diet order
  • Maintains sanitation standards in the Infant Feeding Room with daily sanitation of work areas or more frequent sanitation per department policy
  • Monitors supplies of milk, including MHM and PDHM, feeding preparation/storage supplies, discards expired feedings, nutritional additives, and other products
  • Documents and delivers properly labeled MHM/PDHM, formulas/feedings, and tube feedings to appropriate patient care areas
  • Utilizes, monitors, and sanitizes all milk preparation (i.e., milk warmer, centrifuge) and storage (i.e., refrigerators, freezers) equipment and supplies per departmental policy
  • Communicates with Registered Dietitians, Infant Feeding Room managers, Lactation Consultants, Nurses, co-workers, and parents to ensure accurate milk and feeding preparation, collection, and storage and to maintain sufficient inventory of MHM
  • Maintains daily inventory and stock of all Infant Feeding Room supplies and equipment required for MHM collection, preparation, and storage. Places orders as directed and stocks deliveries on receipt
  • Trains staff and Dietetic Interns on Infant Feeding Room workflows, policies, and procedures.
