Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Civil Structural) is required
  • 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, in the design of industrial facilities, chemical plants, or energy-related projects
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, RAM Connections, RISA 3D or similar tools
  • Solid understanding of relevant building codes, standards (e.g., ACI, AISC , ASCE), and industry best practices for structures similar to buildings (e.g. buildings, control rooms, PEMBs etc) open frame structures ( skids, pipe racks, equipment support structures)
  • Experience in seismic analysis and design considerations for earthquake-prone regions
  • Experience in wind analysis and design considerations for hurricane-prone regions
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software for drafting and modeling
  • Experience with bolted and welded connection design using RAM connections or RISA
  • Experience with BIM 360 for complex construction projects
  • Experience interpreting complex engineering data (e.g. Geotech reports, equipment and piping loads etc)
  • Understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to industrial plants
Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze structural components including skids, pipe racks, platforms, supports, and other related structures for hydrogen producing plants
  • Utilize industry-standard software such as STAAD.Pro, RAM Connections, HILTI PROFIS,etc. to perform structural analysis and Revit or similar software for modeling to ensure designs meet required codes, standards, and specifications
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including process engineers, mechanical engineers, piping engineers to integrate structural requirements into overall plant design
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing conditions, provide technical expertise, and ensure compliance with design specifications during construction phases
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for structural components, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines
  • Perform structural calculations and evaluations to determine load capacities, stability, and structural integrity meeting site specific ASCE 7 loading
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, codes, regulations, and emerging technologies relevant to structural engineering in hydrogen production plants
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and quality control processes to identify and resolve potential issues proactively
