Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Five to seven or more years of hands-on application security, software security, or secure software engineering experience.
  • Experience integrating security tooling and automated checks into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Familiarity and experience conducting secure code review and testing web and application programming interface applications using the Open Worldwide Application Security Project Top 10 and web testing methodologies.
  • Experience assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating vulnerabilities and risk-based remediation guidance to management and engineering audiences.
  • Experience with technical report writing and communication.
Responsibilities
  • Lead manual source code review across priority applications, emphasizing business logic, access-control, authentication, authorization, and data-protection risks.
  • Perform and guide application security testing using static application security testing, dynamic application security testing, software composition analysis, container scanning, secrets detection, and web and application programming interface testing methodologies.
  • Expand and support the Security Champions program through enablement, coaching, secure coding guidance, and practical developer resources.
  • Develop and improve automated source code review processes and continuous integration and continuous delivery security checks to scale consistent application security coverage.
  • Partner with engineering, cloud, and product teams to embed secure software development lifecycle practices into design, development, testing, release, and production support activities.
  • Create vulnerability reports explaining risk, business impact, urgency, and recommended remediation steps to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Evaluate and apply artificial intelligence-assisted tooling to accelerate code review, testing, triage, reporting, and secure development workflows.
  • Advise teams on threat modeling for web, application programming interface, mobile, cloud, and artificial intelligence-enabled application designs.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree or specialized training in application security, cybersecurity, software engineering, cloud security, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence or large language model-integrated applications, artificial intelligence security tooling, mobile security, reverse engineering, or advanced application security certifications.

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
