Requirements
  • Five or more years of progressive experience administering employee benefits and compensation programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave policies.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Affordable Care Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and other federal, state, and local regulations governing benefits and compensation.
  • Experience supporting compensation cycles, including market benchmarking, salary surveys, job evaluations, and pay equity analyses.
  • Experience administering leave and accommodations across multiple states, including Americans with Disabilities Act and mental-health-related accommodations.
  • Familiarity with payroll fundamentals and willingness to serve as backup to a Senior Manager, Payroll; hands-on payroll processing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with benefits providers, brokers, and external consultants to evaluate, implement, and continuously improve benefits offerings.
  • Ability to administer and communicate benefits and compensation programs with an emphasis on inclusivity, accessibility, equity, and employee wellbeing.
  • Ability to analyze benefits and compensation data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Ability to explain complex benefits and pay information clearly, empathetically, and engagingly to employees at all levels.
  • Experience with human resources information systems and benefits administration platforms.
  • Experience operating within a unionized environment, including 24/7 shift-based staff.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity, discretion, and ability to build trust across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable, and mission-aligned workplace practices.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Responsibilities
  • Administer the day-to-day operations of benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, voluntary benefits, and employee perks.
  • Partner with the Director, Total Rewards to evaluate, evolve, and continuously improve benefits offerings for a diverse, distributed workforce of union and non-union employees.
  • Lead the annual benefits open enrollment process, including planning, employee education, vendor coordination, system configuration, and execution.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and external consultants to ensure responsive service, plan integrity, and strong vendor performance.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and provide clear, empathetic, and timely communication.
  • Develop and promote wellness initiatives aligned with mental health, total wellbeing, and inclusion.
  • Partner with the Director, Total Rewards to operationalize the compensation strategy, including the annual compensation cycle, merit and increase administration, and recognition programs.
  • Support analysis, maintenance, and ongoing refresh of pay bands and job architecture, including job evaluations, classifications, and leveling consistency.
  • Conduct salary and labor market research, prepare benchmarking analyses, and participate in compensation surveys.
  • Support pay equity audits, internal equity reviews, and compensation reporting.
  • Provide guidance on offers, promotions, and pay decisions in partnership with the Director of Total Rewards and People Team members.
  • Support the design, launch, and ongoing administration of employee recognition programs.
  • Administer recognition workflows, employee communications, and reporting.
  • Administer leave and accommodations programs across multiple states, including Family and Medical Leave Act leave, state-specific leave, and Americans with Disabilities Act and religious reasonable accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, tracking, and reporting on leave and reasonable accommodation cases.
  • Ensure benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Affordable Care Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and other applicable laws.
  • Support benefits and compensation compliance and audit readiness, including Form 5500 filings, Affordable Care Act reporting, nondiscrimination testing, pay transparency reporting, and benefits-related audits.
  • Maintain accurate employee data across human resources information systems and vendor systems, conducting routine audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Reconcile benefits invoices, identify discrepancies, and partner with vendors to drive timely resolution and payment processing.
  • Serve as backup to the Senior Payroll Manager during peak cycles, absences, and time-sensitive payroll needs.
  • Support biweekly payroll processing in ADP Workforce Now, including timesheet review, deduction validation, and audit checks.
  • Partner with the Senior Payroll Manager to ensure benefits-related payroll inputs, including deductions, retirement contributions, and leave coding, are accurate and timely.
  • Partner with Total Rewards, Payroll, People Business Partners, People Operations, Internal Communications, Legal, and Finance to coordinate and govern Total Rewards programs.
  • Contribute to clear documentation, employee-facing communications, and internal playbooks for sustainable Total Rewards processes.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Communicate complex policy, legal, compliance, and best-practice information clearly to staff at all levels.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant external partners.
  • Demonstrate planning and problem-solving, multitasking, deadline management, and attention to detail.
  • Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.
