  • Completion of some high school coursework, with alternative combinations of education and experience considered.
  • A few months of experience processing or distributing goods or providing customer service.
  • Knowledge of lifting guidelines.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Experience with cash registers and related processes and procedures, including bank deposits and summary reports.
  • Experience working in a computerized environment.
  • Ability to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the organization's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 29 pounds, and frequently lift or carry up to 29 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain customer service standards to contribute to store sales budgets.
  • Implement store layout plans, window displays, and merchandise displays to attract customers and maintain an attractive store appearance.
  • Replenish inventory based on the Supervisor's directions.
  • Retrieve, sort, and price inventory and help protect the store from inventory shrinkage through close visual monitoring.
  • Contribute to the safety of staff and customers by removing snow, clearing fire exits, removing obstacles, cleaning spills, and maintaining store cleanliness.
  • Accurately complete customer transactions, including Visa and debit transactions.
  • Receive donations in the designated area.
  • Sort donated items and retain good-quality items for redistribution.
  • Work in the sorting or cashier area when necessary.
  • Treat each customer fairly and in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency in the sorting and receiving area.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, and safe store appearance by tidying, restocking shelves, cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and mopping as necessary.
  • Clean the lunchroom, washroom, and other common areas on a rotational basis.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Work in a store and warehouse environment, including exposure to garbage, washrooms, odors, dirty environments, truck fumes, vehicles, and temperature changes.
  • Work typical retail hours, including Saturdays, with a schedule that may vary from week to week and is set by the Supervisor.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling.
