Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience being accountable for technical project or program delivery in the Data and AI domain, with the ability to contribute to technical debates and design choices with customers.
  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, or Scala.
  • Experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, customer success, or consulting role.
  • Understanding of solution architecture for distributed data systems.
  • Understanding of how to attribute business value and outcomes to specific project deliverables.
  • Technical program or project management experience, including accountability for account, stakeholder, and resource management.
  • Experience resolving complex and important escalations with senior customer executives.
  • Experience conducting open-ended discovery workshops, creating strategic roadmaps, conducting business analysis, and managing delivery of complex programs or projects.
  • A track record of overachievement against quota, goals, or similar objective targets.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with sales and field engineering teams to accelerate customer adoption and growth of the Databricks platform.
  • Increase technical accountability for complex customers and guide adoption of selected Databricks workloads to maximize platform value and return on investment.
  • Lead customer stakeholders, build executive relationships, orchestrate specialized Databricks teams, and create and drive customer growth plans and strategies.
  • Serve as the post-sale technical lead across Databricks products.
  • Engage with Solutions Architects to understand the full use-case demand plan for prioritized customers.
  • Lead the post-technical-win account strategy and execution plan for Databricks use cases in strategic accounts.
  • Act as the accountable technical leader for assigned use cases and customers across selling teams and internal stakeholders, driving onboarding, enablement, success, go-live, and healthy workload consumption.
  • Serve as the first contact for technical issues or questions related to production or go-live status of agreed-upon use cases.
  • Leverage Shared Services, User Education, Onboarding and Technical Services, and Support resources, escalating to technical experts when needed.
  • Create, own, and execute points of view on accelerating key use cases into production, coordinating with Professional Services on engagement proposals.
  • Navigate Databricks Product and Engineering teams for new product innovations, private previews, and upgrade needs.
  • Develop execution plans covering customer-facing technical roles and teams across production use cases, enablement and user growth, product adoption, cloud cost control, tuning and optimization, and executive and operational governance.
  • Provide internal and external KPI updates to the Technical General Manager on usage, customer health, investment status, risks, product adoption, and use-case progression.

Pengana's AIX acquires 8% stake in $190B AI platform Databricks

ASX-listed AI Private Opportunities Trust has acquired a position in Databricks, allocating approximately 8% of its portfolio to the US data and AI company. San Francisco-based Databricks raised $5 billion in August 2024 at a $190 billion valuation. The platform serves over 70% of Fortune 500 companies and more than 20,000 organisations worldwide. Databricks crossed a $7 billion revenue run rate in its most recent quarter, growing over 80% year-on-year whilst maintaining positive free cash flow. This investment follows AIX's deployment of over one-third of its portfolio across positions including ByteDance, Helsing, and Handshake. The trust aims to provide Australian investors access to private AI market leaders typically limited to institutional investors. GCM Grosvenor manages the trust's investments and is in advanced discussions to close several additional positions.

Databricks hires ex-AWS executive to lead Asia partners amid 85% growth

Databricks has appointed former Amazon Web Services executive Briscoe to lead its Asia Pacific & Japan partner organisation. She previously headed AWS's partner operations in the region and held similar roles at Microsoft and Cisco. The move supports Databricks' regional expansion. In April, the company named Simon Davies as regional leader and reported over 85% year-on-year growth in its fourth quarter. It now has more than 1,500 employees across Asia Pacific & Japan and plans to establish headquarters in Singapore. Databricks works with over 1,000 partners regionally and 8,000 globally through its Brickbuilder Partner Network. The company's AWS business has surpassed a $1 billion run rate. International Data Corporation forecasts Asia/Pacific AI spending will reach $175 billion by 2028.
