Requirements
  • Strong experience leading product design for complex, production software from research through shipped product.
  • Mastery of Figma and modern prototyping tools, with a portfolio demonstrating craft and systems thinking.
  • A track record of running user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, and turning findings into concrete design decisions.
  • Fluency in interaction design, visual design, information architecture, and design systems.
  • Judgment to balance novel interactions with the familiarity and reliability that expert users depend on.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and owning product design end-to-end.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to articulate design rationale to engineers, clinicians, and leadership.
  • Strong ownership mindset and product judgment.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end radiologist experience of Mosaic Reporting and develop a deep understanding of user experience and radiologist satisfaction as the product rolls out more broadly.
  • Design a system that adapts to different ways radiologists have learned to interact with technology rather than forcing a single workflow.
  • Balance innovation and familiarity by introducing new interactions while preserving enough existing familiarity to keep radiologists confident and efficient.
  • Define priorities for improving radiologist satisfaction and identify user-feedback signals that should drive design decisions.
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap alongside the product lead, using insight into radiologist needs to shape and sequence product work.
  • Plan and conduct user research with practicing radiologists, including surveys, interviews, and usability studies, and synthesize findings into design direction.
  • Produce mockups, prototypes, and interaction flows in Figma, and partner with engineering to bring them to production.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and clinicians to design Mosaic Reporting as a scalable product used by radiologists and patients around the world.
  • Create standardized product manuals, documentation, and design language to support customers across Radiology Partners and beyond.
  • Establish and own the design system and interaction patterns that keep the product consistent across surfaces, teams, and customers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing for clinical, medical, or other expert and high-stakes professional users.
  • Experience designing real-time, low-latency, or voice- and dictation-driven interfaces.
  • Familiarity with large language model- or artificial intelligence-powered products and designing for probabilistic, model-driven outputs.
  • Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments, handling protected health information, or building to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
  • Radiology or medical imaging domain knowledge, including modalities, reporting workflows, or structured reporting.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and product documentation at scale across global customers.
  • Familiarity with React or Next.js and close, hands-on collaboration with frontend engineers.

What believers are saying

  • FDA Breakthrough designation enables prioritized FDA collaboration accelerating safety and efficacy profile development
  • Internal validation shows 16%–65% enhanced detection of significant findings and 18% efficiency boost for radiologists
  • Accelerated review path may reduce time-to-clearance compared to standard AI radiology regulatory pathways

What critics are saying

  • Aidoc First Read received FDA Breakthrough Designation for four life-threatening findings, threatening market share in 6–12 months
  • Preliminary validation data limits CAUTION language creates high risk of regulatory rejection if real-world performance fails
  • Generative AI drafting entire reports challenges FDA validation frameworks, likely mandating new post-market data requirements delaying commercialization

What makes Cognita unique

  • Cognita CXR is the first radiology generative AI model with FDA Breakthrough Device Designation
  • Generative vision-language model creates comprehensive preliminary findings instead of flagging spots for review
  • Cognita leverages exclusive access to Radiology Partners network of over 4,000 radiologists for validation
