Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Two years of experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers, and/or hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades is required.
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently is required.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation is required.
  • The ability to use measuring tools and perform basic mathematical computations is required.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • The ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift is required.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design and engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
  • Fabricate and install covers, flat panels, and curtains, and sew simple covers as needed.
  • Work with fabric, vinyl, leather hides, composites, and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Cut and serge carpets, cover bulkheads, and cover or install panels, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, and windows.
  • Fabricate various metal parts and fit panels and windows as needed.
  • Use the material tracking system, Corridor, to create parts demands, track squawks, and sign off work.
  • Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety and reduce cost, cycle time, and labor hours using Lean Manufacturing and other process-improvement techniques.
  • Comply with safety, 5S, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment policies.
  • Address unsafe conditions before putting others at risk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
