Requirements
  • Master's degree in health promotion, health psychology, mental health, public health or equivalent masters degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in campus mental health or health promotion and administration required.
  • Clear understanding of the mental health and well-being needs of a large multicultural educational community; broad range of experience with a diverse clinical population; strong base of knowledge in adolescent development, strong understanding of harm reduction and prevention interventions for a college student population.
  • Understanding of technical activities and needs of the Center, including database, web resources, and desktop publishing.
Responsibilities
  • Organize and direct outreach and programming functions of the Center and exercise functional responsibility for day-to-day external and internal operations of the Center involving the provision of health promotion and education.
  • Communicates information regarding Center programs and services, and overall university-wide health promotion and disease prevention efforts.
  • Establishes and maintains effective consultative relationships with other university offices and organizations.
  • Coordinates outreach and consultation services such as workshops, group consults, presentations, and training sessions.
  • Coordinates programing efforts for the Well-Being Corner, facilitating scheduling and ensuring program alignment with values of wellness.
  • Participates in activities and publications that promote broad knowledge of the Center and its services, such as orientations, preview days, web site development, handout/brochure development, and division or university committees or task groups.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training and managing staff on an ongoing basis. This includes providing regular feedback, coaching, mentoring and evaluating performance, and providing clinical supervision, if/when appropriate. Also, identify and encourage participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Provides training and outreach programs/services to student groups, staff, faculty, and parents, such as workshops or presentations on topics related to health, mental health, human development, and university health-centered services. Serves as staff advisor to Active Minds, and AU student group.
  • Works cooperatively with, and provides consultation to, campus colleagues concerning health and wellness trends among the college student population.
  • Administers and analyzes data sources, including the National College Health Assessment survey.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external health services and agencies.
  • Serves on various committees and working groups, as appropriate.
  • Engage in professional activities such as continuing professional development, conference presentations, writing and publishing, and participation in professional organizations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in health promotion; clinical, counseling or health psychology; public health or equivalent.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with 5 years experience in campus mental health or health promotion and administration.
  • Strong background in navigating health disparities in a university setting and in developing and maintaining strong peer programs.
