Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing environmental regulations
  • Evaluating industrial processes and identifying opportunities for pollution reduction
  • Assessing environmental impacts and developing mitigation strategies to minimize them, such as pollution prevention
  • Developing life-cycle costs for pollution control technologies and other building and infrastructure projects
  • Supporting programs for energy and water conservation, greenhouse gas reductions, and climate change adaptation
  • Developing sustainable land use plans and supporting design and construction of green buildings and stormwater infrastructure
  • Assessing drinking water and wastewater treatment technology effectiveness for pollutants and emerging contaminants
  • Assessing and promoting innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies and developing resources to reduce barriers to adoption
  • Evaluating the design, costs, and environmental impacts of potential water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Evaluating facility construction, demolition, and equipment projects for potential environmental and safety impacts and formulating risk mitigation strategies documented in standard operating procedures
  • Performing chemical safety and occupational hazard analysis and risk mitigation
  • Interacting with technical clients to provide process engineering and safety support
