Job Description
Western Digital is seeking a New College Graduate to join its HDD Operations team in San Jose, CA. The candidate will participate in the process development and manufacturing implementation of new RIE (reactive ion etch) processes and technologies for magnetic recording head wafer manufacturing in a clean room environment.
Other responsibilities will include:
- process sustaining, improvement, and production line support.
- documenting processes and procedures, training and certifying technicians/operators, and conducting periodic audits.
- planning and managing projects with limited supervision, and working cross-functionally with other teams to transfer and implement new products, processes, and tooling into production.
- Troubleshooting line issues, conducting defect analysis and root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to improve yield, cycle time and cost.
The candidate should have good working knowledge of vacuum process, equipment, metrologies, and thin film dry etch fundamentals. The candidate’s skillset should include a problem-solving mindset, strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
Qualifications
- PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related engineering field with a graduation date between June 2023-June 2024.
- Knowledge of vacuum process, equipment, metrologies, and thin film dry etch fundamentals.
- Prefer to have hands-on experience in vacuum process development in a clean room environment, especially in dry chemical etch area. Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Process Control (APC), and JMP is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to find correlation among large amount of available data. Be able to make decisions and execute them on a timely manner.
- Be able to work with diverse teams and people from different background and from other departments and organizations. Strong quality mindset and the ability to accepting different opinions.
