Responsibilities
  • Mentor, supervise, and train junior grant administration staff to develop talent.
  • Approve and process all purchase requisitions and vouchers for supplies, equipment, personnel, services, and reimbursements.
  • Review expenditures and encumbrances and identify and independently resolve discrepancies, collaborating with other departments to develop solutions.
  • Work to close out research funds and resolve fund deficits and under-expenditures.
  • Assist in the departmental faculty salary budget process by managing and administering the allocation of research personnel funds.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of systems to improve functionality for administrative staff and investigators.
  • Interpret sponsors and institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare regular and complex special reports, financial statements, forms or studies for sponsors and researchers.
  • Track grant applications and awards, and follow up with funding agencies.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and safeguard University assets.
  • Mentor, supervise, and train junior grant administration staff to further talent development.
  • Advise faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues, including appropriateness of budget items, interpreting sponsor policies, government regulations, and agency terms and conditions.
  • Ensure sponsored research projects are managed efficiently and effectively in line with UM and SCCC policies and procedures and applicable guidelines.
  • Complete or oversee completion of all necessary paperwork or online forms for grant submission.
