Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related scientific field is required.
  • At least 4 years of environmental consulting or related industry experience with strong technical writing and field oversight responsibilities are required.
  • A current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel locally to project sites are required.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities in field and office environments.
  • The candidate must be able to mentor and train junior staff.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety and understanding of safe field practices are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level technical oversight and perform environmental field activities associated with UST/AST investigations, removals, and installations.
  • Oversee field subcontractors and serve as a liaison between Apex, general contractors, and clients to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct and support environmental sampling activities, including soil, groundwater, and air monitoring, with associated technical documentation and reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and manage technical reports, proposals, and field documentation.
  • Assist with project management activities, including scheduling, coordination, budgeting support, and client communication.
  • Support emergency response projects as needed, including occasional after-hours or weekend response work.
  • Mentor and train junior scientific staff while promoting safe work practices and technical development.
  • Collaborate with commercial, industrial, and government clients on environmental projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with UST/AST systems, environmental sampling, remediation oversight, and subcontractor coordination is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Maryland and Washington, DC environmental regulations and tank programs is highly preferred.
  • A current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher is preferred.
