Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Knowledge of arrangement and description of historic archival materials is required.
  • The candidate must be organized and demonstrate high attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently is required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate respect for collaboration, diversity, and employment equity.
  • The role requires moving and lifting weights of up to 20 kilograms, handling dusty and varied archival materials, bending, walking, and climbing ladders.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • The candidate must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
Responsibilities
  • Arrange and describe the St. Andrew’s Society Archives in accordance with professional standards.
  • Prepare collection description information, including administrative history and scope and content notes, and detailed container inventories for entry into the archival content management system, Access to Memory.
  • Rehouse and reformat collection materials as necessary and in accordance with professional standards and best practices.
  • Contribute collection descriptions for entry into the Access to Memory content management system and/or Sofia discovery tool.
  • Write monthly progress reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a Master's Degree in Archival Studies or Library/Information Studies, such as MAS, MLIS, MIS, or MI, preferably with a focus in Archives from an American Library Association-accredited institution.
  • Experience with arrangement and description of historic archival materials.
