Safety Engineer

As a safety engineer on the team, you will conduct comprehensive research, analyses, and assessments on industrial systems and facilities associated with chemical production, refining, or research and development. You’ll support or verify safe operating policies and procedures, reports, and specialized papers. You will conduct research to evaluate and determine Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL) for new materials, Hazard Classification for end product, and safety levels for products. You will evaluate product designs for safety. You’ll design safety plans and procedures associated with processes and equipment. You will conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. You’ll maintain and apply knowledge of policies, regulations, and industrial processes. You will recommend procedures for detection, prevention, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other product hazards. You’ll evaluate potential hazards or damage from product misuse. You will investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine the causes and report on the findings. You’ll develop mitigation actions to address safety and occupational health inspection violations from mishaps or industrial accidents. You will verify and validate the effectiveness of the implemented mitigation actions.

You Have:
3+ years of experience supporting facilities safety programs
Experience implementing training or safety compliance safety programs
Secret clearance
HS diploma or GED and 8+ years of experience with safety programs or facilities management, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Safety, or Occupational Health and 3+ years of experience with safety programs or facilities management
Nice If You Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification
Navy Principal for Safety (PFS) Certification
Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
OSHA Training Institute Safety and Health Fundamentals Certification
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
