Course Description:
EDER 643. Women, Education and Development.
This course will trace the major theoretical developments in women and development and relate them to educational issues in the formal, non-formal and informal settings. There will be an emphasis on the significance and policy implications of women's education for sustainable developments in the countries of the South.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education:
PhD in Educational Studies (e.g., global education; gender, sexuality, feminist and social justice studies; international development; or related fields)
Master educator with a minimum completed MA degree in a relevant field (e.g., global education; gender, sexuality, feminist and social justice studies; or related field of study) and/or extensive relevant and experience as an educator in the area of women, education and development
Experience:
1. Expert knowledge of :
Major theoretical developments in women and development, including feminist and gender theories.
Intersections among gender, education, and development in social, economic, political, and cultural spheres.
Gender inequalities, discrimination, marginalization, and violence in educational and development contexts.
Human rights and social justice frameworks relevant to women’s education and development.
Social structures, norms, and values shaping women’s roles in development, particularly in the Global South.
Policy implications of women’s education for sustainable development.
Approaches to integrating formal, non-formal, and informal education in gender and development initiatives.
2. Experience researching or working on education and development initiatives in the Global South, including engagement with marginalized or underrepresented communities.
3. Experience critically analyzing gender inequalities, social justice issues, and development policies through interdisciplinary and intersectional perspectives.
4. Experience teaching similar course(s) at the graduate level.
5. Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system is an asset.
Other:
Knowledge of the impact and proven record of integrating pedagogical approaches anchored in equity, diversity and inclusion.
Familiarity using myCourses, Zoom, and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learing experiences.
Familiarity teaching blended classes.
Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital and pedagogical teaching and learning tools.
Instruction in this course may be delivered remotely if indicated as required by the university.
