Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A registered Professional Engineer license in Ohio, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity within six months of employment.
  • Approximately 15 or more years of professional bridge engineering experience, including project management.
  • An existing working relationship with the Ohio Department of Transportation and local municipalities.
  • Experience designing bridges on Ohio Department of Transportation projects, with an understanding of its practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes, including AASHTO and AREMA.
  • Proficiency in AASHTOWare and BrR.
  • Working knowledge of developing plans in the Autodesk platform.
  • Communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills.
  • Active professional involvement in local engineering societies.
Responsibilities
  • Manage bridge projects, predominantly in Ohio and in other locations as needed.
  • Manage bridge staff working in-office and remotely.
  • Prepare and perform complex structural analysis, design calculations, drawings, and details for bridge projects.
  • Lead bridge and structural tasks, including developing and reporting production work plans and calculations as part of a project team.
  • Assist with managing the design and review process and permitting through outside agencies.
  • Assist with business development, client presentations, and proposal preparation for bridge projects in the Ohio region.
  • Coordinate with clients on submittals, meetings, and comments required for successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Attend virtual and in-person client meetings.
  • Coordinate with and manage technical staff to meet project deadlines with subconsultants.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain engineering budgets on major bridge projects.
  • Assist in preparing project scopes and schedules for Ohio Department of Transportation pursuits.
  • Mentor, train, and review work performed by junior engineering staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in LEAP Concrete/Bridge, CSI Bridge, and MIDAS Civil.
  • Experience with MicroStation, including OpenRoads and OpenBridge Designer.
