Requirements
  • A master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy, or a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
  • Two years of relevant experience or comparable combined experience and education is preferred.
  • Current North Carolina independent practice licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or doctoral-level psychologist with a PhD or PsyD.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Regular on-site attendance is required, with flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, or holiday coverage.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.
  • Maintain current licensure, training requirements, and adherence to applicable professional-board ethical standards.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults, including crisis intervention as needed.
  • Complete psychodiagnostic evaluations and develop person-centered treatment plans aligned with best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress and outcomes, updating treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Provide safe, ethical, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, evidence-based care.
  • Participate in regular case consultations and interdisciplinary collaboration, including direct consultation with resident and faculty physicians.
  • Serve in a rotating on-call schedule as assigned.
  • Coordinate care with internal providers and external agencies, including schools, primary care, hospitals, court systems, and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Facilitate appropriate referrals to internal and external services to support continuity of care.
  • Engage in teaching or mentoring activities with medical residents on a case-by-case basis when requested.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, supervision, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Support integrated, team-based care.
  • Provide family-based therapy, psychoeducation, skills training, caregiver support, and consultation for families and caregivers of adolescents and young adults experiencing early psychosis.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary First Episode Psychosis team within the Coordinated Specialty Care model to promote recovery and resilience for individuals and their family systems.
Desired Qualifications

  • A Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist credential.
  • Full licensure to practice independently.

It serves as a branch campus for UNC schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and public health, hosting the UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC and the UNC Gillings MPH program. It operates multiple clinics including Family Health, Ob/Gyn, Dental Health, and Community Pharmacies, and runs the region’s only high-risk obstetrics practice as a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike. Its mission is to grow and improve the regional health workforce and health outcomes through hands-on clinical care, education from high school to graduate programs, and collaborative research.
