Celebrating Digital Learning Day: How Goodwill Connects Skills to Careers. Digital skills open doors: to careers, education, and economic opportunity. On Digital Learning Day (Thursday, February 12), we're highlighting how Goodwill Southeast Georgia is expanding access to technology and digital education across our community. 1. Future-Ready skills - Google AI certification. Artificial intelligence is shaping the future of work. Goodwill Southeast Georgia is proud to partner with Google and Goodwill Industries International to offer Google AI Essentials and Prompting Essentials. AI Essentials is a no-cost, self-paced online training course designed to help learners work smarter, faster, and with more confidence in today's digital world. The course introduces practical AI tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Copilot, showing how they can be used to brainstorm ideas, streamline tasks, and prepare for what's next. Google's Prompting Essentials course teaches advanced prompting techniques including multimodal prompting, few shot prompting and prompt chaining. Learners can also build a reusable prompt library for real world scenarios through hands on activities. By framing AI as practical, not technical, and emphasizing that it's for everyone, Goodwill ensures learners across industries can build confidence with emerging technology, regardless of background or experience. As the job market evolves, so can your skills. 2. Expanding digital access. A computer isn't just a device; it's a gateway to education, training, and employment. That's why Goodwill Southeast Georgia actively seeks partnerships that expand digital access for individuals who need it most. At a laptop distribution event hosted at our Pooler retail store, Goodwill provided 100 free laptops to Opportunity Center clients thanks to the generous support of AT&T and Human IT. Recipients were selected based on demonstrated need through a digital access survey completed at Goodwill Opportunity Centers. For many participants, a single laptop made an immediate impact - allowing them to complete job training, apply for positions, or support their families' educational goals. 3. Reducing electronic waste. Digital access and environmental responsibility go hand in hand at Goodwill Southeast Georgia. Through the Dell Reconnect program, Goodwill expands access to technology while reducing electronic waste. Dell Reconnect offers an opportunity to donate computers and computer accessories at Goodwill Southeast Georgia locations, ensuring they're responsibly recycled. At Goodwill, we also have a refurbishment program to give gently used electronics a second life if possible. This circular approach reflects Goodwill's mission to reuse, reskill, and reinvest - connecting sustainability directly to workforce readiness and long-term opportunity. 4. Digital access at Opportunity Centers & Digital Learning through My Career Advisor. Goodwill's Opportunity Centers and the My Career Advisor platform provide ongoing, no-cost access to technology, learning tools, and career support in spaces that are welcoming and supportive. At Opportunity Center locations, participants can: * Search and apply for jobs * Enroll in training and certification programs * Complete coursework and credential exams * Build confidence and digital fluency at their own pace And learning doesn't stop when you leave the building. My Career Advisor puts opportunity in your hands 24/7, offering tools for resume building, interview preparation, digital skills training, and career exploration - anytime, anywhere. Whether you're just starting your job search, looking to upskill, or ready to explore a new career path, these resources are designed to grow with you. Goodwill Industries reached record revenue of $7 billion in 2025, with sales at its 3,400 thrift stores rising 7% from 2024. The growth was driven largely by Gen Z and millennial shoppers seeking environmentally friendly and affordable options. Thrifting reduces textile waste and demand for new production, cutting water use and carbon emissions from fashion manufacturing. With inflation pressuring household budgets, secondhand shops offer significant savings, with shirts under $10 and jeans at $15, whilst avoiding tariff-driven price increases. Other resale retailers are experiencing similar growth. Savers Value Village reported nearly 16% higher net sales, whilst ThredUp grew revenue by 34%. Goodwill plans to add 50-100 new stores across the US and Canada this year to meet rising demand.
Goodwill Industries International named in Top 10 Charities. Big news worth celebrating! Goodwill Industries International has been named Top 10 on Forbes' Top 100 Charities list, and we couldn't be more proud to be part of this incredible network. This recognition reflects the heart and hard work of 150 local Goodwill organizations creating career opportunities and life-changing services in communities nationwide. It's incredible to see what's possible when mission, trust, and impact come together.
