Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • The role requires the ability to work weekends during the stated 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. schedule.
  • Applicants should have 0–2 years of food-service experience within a long-term-care environment, preferred.
  • The employee must safely handle a variety of chemicals.
  • The employee must follow universal precautions and infection-control techniques.
  • The employee must maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation and serving of quality food to residents, guests, and employees under sanitary conditions.
  • Provide courteous customer service to residents, partners, and guests.
  • Take ownership of nursing neighborhoods while working in them and work hand in hand with the nursing department to serve residents.
  • Prepare and set up menu items according to standards.
  • Accurately serve hot and cold food items, condiments, utensils, and related items onto trays on a moving tray line according to tray tickets and menu spreadsheets.
  • Restock the cafeteria and other areas with food and supplies in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Serve meals to residents in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Scrape dirty trays and dishes and load and unload the dish machine.
  • Hand-wash pots, pans, and other designated items.
  • Maintain kitchen facilities in a sanitary manner, including floors, walls, equipment, and utensils.
  • Educate employees about the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Assist in the kitchen where needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Communicate and cooperate with dietary personnel and other departments.
  • Interact positively with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under varied conditions and circumstances.
