Staff Accountant

Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting daily and monthly accounting operations, helping ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting. This individual will serve as our primary accountant for one of our three minor league baseball teams, while also collaborating with team members across all three teams in our portfolio. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and exhibit strong communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Cash Flow & Transaction Management
  • Manage and track daily cash flow, ensuring cash transactions are properly categorized and recorded in the accounting system.
  • Oversee and reconcile credit card transactions, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
  • Monitor team’s cash flow and communicate needs or variances to the finance department.
• Revenue Support & Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Finance team to track and record team revenue across multiple revenue streams.
  • Support accurate recognition of deferred revenue and prepaid expenses.
  • Collaborate across all teams to align on financial best practices and shared reporting standards.
• Month-End Close
  • Prepare and post journal entries and accruals as part of the monthly close process.
  • Perform account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for internal reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation to support financial activity and audit readiness.
• Tax Compliance & Annual Reporting
  • Assist with certain tax filings and local / state compliance reporting.
  • Support the preparation of annual financial reports and documentation for tax filings.
• General Accounting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records.
  • Assist with audit preparation, budget development, and other ad hoc financial projects in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Provide support and financial insights to team operations as needed.

Required Skills

• Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and aptitude for investigating and solving discrepancies.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Passion for sports is a plus!

Attain Partners is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Individual base salary for this position is unique to each candidate and will be commensurate with experience, education, and skills, ranging from $55,000 - $65,000. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
