Requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Basic mathematics skills, including geometry and fractions.
  • Ability to solve sophisticated problems using sound problem-solving techniques and good judgment based on previous practices and precedence.
  • Ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and adhere diligently to instructions.
  • Flexibility to work a 12-hour continental shift schedule consisting of seven shifts bi-weekly.
  • Ability to perform considerable physical labour, including lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, and walking, in a plant environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, sharp blades, and presses.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and lay out work assignments and accomplish them with maximum efficiency.
  • Operate cutting saws and set up and operate automatic and manual pipe-bending machines in the department.
  • Control and properly sort regrind materials.
  • Operate strapping equipment and air nailers.
  • Pack products according to packaging specifications.
  • Perform operator quality inspection checks.
  • Maintain housekeeping around the work area and machines, including 5S practices.
  • Perform necessary administrative functions related to the position.
  • Function in other capacities as directed by the direct supervisor.
  • Follow all plant health, safety, environmental, and quality policies by working safely and responsibly.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.
