Requirements
  • The role requires 8–10+ years of progressive legal experience, including substantial entertainment law experience and significant in-house and/or outside counsel experience with television, documentary, or film production companies or networks.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated leadership experience.
  • The candidate must hold a Juris Doctor and be a member in good standing with the Connecticut Bar, or be able to register as In-House Counsel in Connecticut.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee legal support for the company's programming slate, including day-to-day production legal matters from development through delivery.
  • Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements supporting the company's business and production activities.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to business leaders on legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks affecting the company.
  • Advise on prepublication review and intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademark, privacy, defamation, and related media law issues.
  • Counsel internal stakeholders on compliance, employment and labor matters, risk and safety, and policy and protocol development.
  • Partner with the Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs on litigation strategy, crisis management, and other significant legal matters.
  • Develop practical, business-focused legal solutions that support company objectives while appropriately managing risk.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders and internal stakeholders to identify legal issues, mitigate risk, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the media and entertainment industry and advise the business on potential implications.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to members of the Business and Legal Affairs team, fostering collaboration, sound judgment, and professional development.
