Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
Responsibilities
  • Responds to verification requests sent to NYP from outside entities pertaining to dates of appointment, misconduct, malpractice and any other information required by State or Federal rules and regulations.
  • Assists in generating verification letters to be sent to outside institutions regarding individuals applying for hospital appointment at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
  • Assists with processing hospital reappointments in a timely manner.
  • Distributes Medical Staff appointment/reappointment documents to all clinical departments annually in accordance to an established schedule.
  • Reviews all submitted credential documents to assure completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements and established procedures.
  • Enters credentialing information into database a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Assigns privileges electronically in accordance with submitted clinical delineation to allow electronic access by operational/clinical areas.
  • Generates relevant database reports, including but not limited to, monthly report of appointments for the medical board.
  • Drafts letters for practitioners requesting letters of good standing to be used for licensure other states and/or managed care plan enrollment.
  • Works with clinical departments to assure follow-up on credentials where required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One to two years relevant experience in an academic medical center
  • Prior experience in credentialing
