Requirements
  • Experience and passion for working in geriatric settings, such as nursing homes or senior centers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, squat, bend, and push activity carts.
  • Proficiency in using various computer programs.
  • A high school diploma or higher level of education.
  • Ability to cope with the emotional stress associated with working with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently with periodic daily or less support and direction.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
  • Adherence to cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, dress-code, documentation, company-policy, HIPAA, confidentiality, certification, mission-statement, and resident-rights requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Organize, lead, and participate in a wide variety of resident activities daily to promote resident engagement and enjoyment.
  • Lead and participate in special events as needed.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate different physical and cognitive ability levels.
  • Ensure events are well-provisioned and occur on time.
  • Complete all scheduled daily activities.
  • Contact the Activity Director or Coordinator immediately when unable to complete scheduled activities as intended.
  • Transport supplies to scheduled activity locations, clean up, and return materials after activities.
  • Observe participants at events to assess enjoyment and obtain feedback for improving events.
  • Maintain records of resident participation and behaviors as directed.
  • Complete resident assessments and documentation as directed.
  • Report medical concerns or observations.
  • Use computers daily.
  • Contribute to a positive work team by sharing information, using problem-solving methods, accepting new ideas and constructive feedback, and considering advice from others.
  • Provide professional, courteous, consistent, timely, and positive customer service and communication.
  • Adapt positively to changes in responsibilities and remain flexible in carrying out assignments.
  • Communicate and interact professionally and respectfully with others to address their requests.
  • Perform other duties assigned in the best interests of the company.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with SIGMA Care and SAGELY is a plus.
  • Experience organizing game groups and art classes.
