Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Hold a current Oklahoma Occupational Therapist license, or be eligible for Oklahoma licensure and able to practice under the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Practice Act; licensure must be completed within six months after the initial temporary license is issued, and proof of eligibility must be presented upon hire.
  • Hold current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification upon hire, or complete it within 30 days of hire.
  • Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Follow universal safety precautions and safely work around infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemicals, sharp equipment, heat-producing equipment, and rehabilitation equipment.
  • Cope with high caseloads and multiple demands, and be able to work with frequent interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and potential workplace violence.
  • Be available for possible on-call status, weekend work, flexible scheduling, and floating to other units.
Responsibilities
  • Interpret referrals; examine and evaluate patients; and develop, modify, and document occupational therapy plans of care, including anticipated goals and expected outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessments of assigned patients and document the findings clinically.
  • Coordinate patient care with other clinical team members to ensure optimal care and communication in the clinical record.
  • Direct Occupational Therapy Assistants in specific treatment and intervention components while remaining responsible for the patient’s episode of care.
  • Follow universal safety precautions and safely use wheelchairs, walkers, rehabilitation equipment, and clinical treatment equipment.
