Requirements
- Currently hold a Registered Nurse license in the state where duties are performed.
- Hold Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
- Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program.
- Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs and provide written assessments upon admission, during confinement, and at discharge.
- Obtain health histories, summarize assessment data, and make triage decisions that are documented and communicated to the care team.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment programs using approved protocols as directed by the Medical Director.
- Administer medications using proper techniques, including intravenous therapy and all other approved routes, and obtain diagnostic tests according to physician orders.
- Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered and refer patients to appropriate providers as needed.
- Document all nursing encounters using Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan charting and communicate with nursing staff, physicians, correctional officers, and department heads.
- Provide leadership to nursing staff, identify problems, and recommend improvements in patient care, procedures, and equipment.
- Participate in quality assurance chart reviews and in-service education, and support Occupational Safety and Health Administration and employee safety programs.
- Perform duties within the limits of the state practice act, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, and CBH Medical policies and procedures.
- Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree is preferred but not required.
- Corrections experience is a plus.
