Requirements
  • Recent hospital experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred.
  • Ability to perform on-call, shift, holiday, and weekend work when required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members is required.
  • Ability to withstand crisis situations is required.
  • Customer service skills for patients, team members, and visitors are required.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records are required.
  • A Delaware state radiation license is required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.
  • Apply radiologic principles and theory, anatomy, and pathology processes to select appropriate techniques and positioning for optimal examinations.
  • Follow department policies and protocols to optimize examinations for interpretation.
  • Assist in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles when required.
  • Obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients or their charts to support examination performance and interpretation.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families and answer questions to ease anxiety and encourage cooperation.
  • Recognize clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with examinations and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Correctly identify patients and their files.
  • Track patients according to department procedures.
  • Identify errors and take immediate corrective action using Radiology Information System reports.
  • Maintain radiation exposure within As Low As Reasonably Achievable limits.
  • Use collimation devices and protective shielding effectively for radiation protection.
  • Maintain patient safety using side rails, braking mechanisms, and patient monitoring.
  • Report, document, and correct adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean environment.
  • Stock rooms with appropriate supplies and keep required supplies available for procedures.
  • Remove supplies nearing expiration from patient care areas.
  • Operate imaging and related equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Stay current with technological changes and updates through seminars and in-service training.
  • Participate in department and hospital performance-improvement initiatives, in-services, and meetings.
