Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in education, higher education, or a related discipline is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
  • At least two years of full-time professional experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with various areas within the Academic Success Center and other areas on campus.
  • Ability to work occasional nights or weekends.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer database skills.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion for all faculty, staff, and students.
Responsibilities
  • Work with students with documented disabilities to create accommodation plans covering academic, housing, dietary, and other relevant accommodation areas.
  • Review documentation, conduct welcome meetings, and provide general case management for a large caseload of new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Provide one-on-one academic support to students with disabilities within the assigned caseload.
  • Provide formal and informal training to University stakeholders regarding the accommodations process, institutional compliance, equitable access, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Assist the department and Testing Center with accommodated examinations, including serving as a reader or scribe and assisting with midterm and final exam proctoring.
  • Help maintain updated Student Accessibility Services standard operating procedures as part of a team.
  • Create, develop, and implement student workshops and educational programming associated with Student Accessibility Services and the Academic Success Center.
  • Track and report data from the student caseload and affiliated services.
  • Provide additional support to the Director and contribute to Student Accessibility Services and Academic Success Center staff activities, outreach, and overall Center operations.
  • Assist the Director with campus-wide educational initiatives related to Student Accessibility Services and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Help oversee daily operations of Student Accessibility Services when the Director is absent.
  • Teach one section each fall and spring semester of ASK 100 when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to a work environment that supports knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills for engaging with people of all cultures and backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in higher education.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Accommodate by Symplicity, Workday, and EAB Navigate.
