  • Current active licensure by the Department of Health and Environmental Control to practice as an Athletic Trainer
  • Successful completion of the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (BOC) examination
  • Current active certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainer's Association
  • Participation in continuing education (75 CEU's every 3 years)
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 2 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer required
  • By the date of hire, will hold current licensure by the Department of Health and Environmental Control to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the state of South Carolina
  • BLS Certification
Responsibilities
  • Adherence to a 12-month residency curriculum including didactics, scholarship, research, and clinical rotation requirements
  • Manage physician clinics and associated patient volumes to enable unobstructed access and best utilize clinical resources
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability
  • Review, analyze, and synthesize patient records, charts, and other pertinent information
  • Provide professional clinical care to assigned patients in an outpatient facility or clinic
  • Assist with postoperative wound care, dressings, etc.
  • Collaborate with patient care teams across the MUSC Health System
  • Complete office forms for patients (i.e. disability forms, FMLA forms, worker’s compensation)
  • Engage patients towards adherence to individual care plans
  • Provide patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics
