The Program:
At Medidata, interns will have the opportunity to accelerate their careers by working closely with experienced professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. By being a part of our global organization, interns have the opportunity to work alongside our talented and committed professionals helping them to build a strong foundation for achieving their career goals. For 12 weeks, beginning May 23, 2022, interns will have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a Medidatian. United around a single goal of empowering smarter treatments and healthier people. Medidatians work in a culture of curiosity, innovation and fun. You will be contributing to the line of business with sustainable and meaningful work.
Our Summer Internship program also includes instructor led training, guided mentorship, exposure to senior leadership and community service. In addition to individual and specific related responsibilities, each intern will participate in our Intern Innovation Lab. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative solution to a business problem currently facing Medidata. As they work diligently to present their final solutions to a panel of top Medidata leaders, we are confident that our interns will make a significant impact on our business.
The Position:
You will be part of the highly dynamic SRE team in medidata.
The SRE team works on internal tools, observability libraries, telemetry pipelines.
Among our projects we are deploying a service catalog that will include live information about security issues, software versions, production alerts. Any metadata related to software being developed and deployed to a production environment.
Your mission would be to help us improve this tool by ingesting telemetry data, alert automation, etc..
This work is highly impactful, most of the work involves working with opensource software, the skills learned will be very transferable to any other position or company.
Qualifications / Competencies:
You should be comfortable with Git. We use Github extensively. We expect you to know how pull requests work and the general flow of it.
Knowledge of web applications, HTTP, etc.
Know containers, we will not dig too much into this, we are not using Kubernetes for this project.
Know the concepts of CI/CD, TDD and have written unit tests for some of the languages below.
The software we will be improving is written in Typescript, the ingestion job is written in Ruby, both are preferred languages. We also use Python and Golang. These could be good starting points also.
Most of our work will be on the backend. Some UI work probably will be needed but it can be minimal if so desired or extensive if the candidate has interest in working on that area.
Some experience consuming APIs. We may do a bunch of this.
