Requirements
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights (ladder, aerial platform lift, scaffolding etc.)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • High school/GED and a regulated apprenticeship program in stationary or power engineering or on-the-job training and correspondence courses or a college training program in stationary or power engineering
  • Valid 4th Class Power (Operating) Engineer certificate issued by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA)
  • Thorough knowledge of Operating Engineers Act (Ontario Regulation 219/01) and Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Working knowledge of boilers, chillers, compressors, etc.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems
  • Working knowledge of water treatment systems
Responsibilities
  • Operate and Monitor Equipment: Boilers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, humidifiers, packaged HVAC units, pumps etc.
  • Control Systems: Operate automated or computerized control systems for boilers, generators, and other equipment.
  • Monitoring: Regularly check gauges, meters, chemistry levels, and alarms to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance and safety.
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, alignment and replacing worn parts.
  • Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions, including replacing faulty components and adjusting systems; engaging with support contractors as required.
  • Technical Document Review: Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, P&ID etc.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of equipment operation, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data from equipment to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Report on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety regulations, and areas for improvement.
  • Safety Protocols: Follow strict safety protocols to ensure the safe operation of all equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures or safety incidents, quickly and effectively
