Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree or two-year college equivalent and 0 to 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required for Instrument Sterilization Technician A.
  • An Associate's Degree or two-year college equivalent and 1 to 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required for Instrument Sterilization Technician B.
  • Dental or medical background is helpful but not required.
  • Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, decontaminate, and disinfect instruments, and set up instrument sterilization.
  • Ensure sterilization protocols are followed according to manufacturer instructions and policy.
  • Distribute and collect instrument supplies and laboratory equipment using scanning equipment.
  • Provide customer service and patient care support in dispensing areas of assigned dental clinics.
  • Deliver and inventory equipment distributed to and received from clinics.
  • Ensure appropriate sterilization of glassware and specified waste in research facilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience.
  • Work occasional weekends and overtime as needed for preparation of student licensing exams.
  • Work the scheduled shift of 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
