  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM

Responsibilities
  • Prototype and implement new solutions to improve the platform, using open-source and enterprise technologies
  • Maintain and operate a scalable, reliable, and efficient Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering using AWS commercial cloud and vSphere services
  • Design, develop, and deploy new features and services to enhance platform capabilities
  • Providing fit-for-purpose cloud instance types including but not limited to General Compute (for regular/balanced workloads), Storage Enhanced (for workloads that require additional storage), and GPU enhanced (for workloads that require integrated GPUs)
  • Ensure platform security, scalability, and reliability, using industry best practices and tools
  • Perform root cause analysis and make recommendations for technical issues
  • Work with commercial cloud providers to troubleshoot issues that arise in NASIC PaaS solutions. This may be through dedicated support cases or conferences calls
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, applying this knowledge to improve the platform
  • Maintain and sustain Open Source applications, deploying through cloud-native technologies and tools such as Helm, Argo CD, GitLab, and Harbor using GitOps processes
  • Maintain and sustain capacity management, monitoring, and dashboards to monitor the health of the PaaS environment to proactively identify issues and gain insights that would lead to improved cost or improved performance
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize platform performance. Plan for scalability to meet the demands of business growth
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline platform operations
  • Support and troubleshoot scripts written in Microsoft PowerShell, Python, bash
  • Implement platform-level security measures, including access controls, encryption, and monitoring
  • Work to maintain system ATO (Authority to Operate) and all appropriate controls related to keeping NASIC Cybersecurity and Air Force Intelligence Community Delegated Authorizing Official informed of changes that would impact system accreditation, via the SIA (Security Impact Analysis) program
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and shared ownership across teams
  • Provide technical guidance and support to development teams using the platform
  • Collaborate with development teams to streamline software delivery processes and to ensure platform improvements align with organizational goals
  • Share content with NASIC's organizational leadership, service owners, business managers via customizable dashboards, views, and reports
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Linux, Git, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and PKI
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to read documentation and find solutions to technical issues independently
  • Knowledge of containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with software such as Argo, Harbor, Prometheus, Grafana, FluentBit, Istio, Coder, GitLab, Velero, OPA
  • Strong understanding of security, identity, and access management principles
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, Go, or Java
  • Certification in cloud computing, Kubernetes, or related technologies
