AECOM misses revenue and EPS estimates by over 16% on legacy project troubles

AECOM reported disappointing second quarter results, missing revenue estimates by 16.7% with $3.59 billion versus expected $4.31 billion, and posting an adjusted loss per share of $0.50 against analyst expectations of $1.46 profit. The infrastructure firm attributed the shortfall to delays and cost overruns on a legacy construction management project, affected by subcontractor productivity issues. CEO Troy Rudd said the troubled projects should complete by mid-2027, whilst CFO Gaurav Kapoor noted claims remain around $600 million. Operating margin fell to negative 2.1% from 7% year-on-year. The company reported backlog of $27.82 billion, up 13.1% year-on-year, and indicated business development efforts are yielding immediate returns with healthy win rates.

AECOM faces securities fraud investigation after $337M project loss and 98% cash flow drop

Law firm Glancy Prongay Wolke & Rotter LLP has launched a securities fraud investigation into AECOM on behalf of investors. The investigation follows a sharp decline in the company's stock price after disappointing financial results. AECOM announced its second quarter fiscal 2026 results on 11 May, revealing operating cash flow had dropped 98% year over year to $4 million. The company attributed the poor performance to longer-than-anticipated claim resolution on projects bid in 2019 and 2020. AECOM's stock fell 12% following the announcement. On 10 August, the company reported third quarter results showing revenue declined 14% year over year, including a $337 million pre-tax loss from a delayed Construction Management project. Shares dropped a further 8.39%.

Aecom (NYSE: ACM) stock analysis: price target vs. Legal challenges.

Aecom (NYSE: ACM) stock analysis: price target vs. Legal challenges. Aug 12, 2026 Market News FMPAecom (NYSE: ACM) stock analysis: price target vs. Legal challenges. * UBS analyst sets a positive price target for Aecom (NYSE: ACM) stock, indicating potential upside. * The company faces a securities fraud investigation following its Q2 fiscal 2026 results. * Aecom reported a substantial quarterly loss per share, significantly missing analyst estimates due to a large pre-tax charge. Aecom (NYSE: ACM) is a global infrastructure consulting firm that designs, builds, finances, and operates infrastructure assets for governments, businesses, and organizations. A UBS analyst sets a new stock price target of $85.00 for Aecom. At the time of the report, the Aecom stock was trading at $62.75, which represents a potential increase of about 35.47%. This positive outlook contrasts with recent company challenges. As highlighted by Business Wire, The Law Offices of Frank R. Cruz announces a securities fraud investigation into Aecom. The investigation follows the company's second-quarter fiscal 2026 results and concerns possible violations of federal securities laws. Shareholders who lost money are encouraged to contact the firm. Financially, the company faces headwinds. Aecom reported a quarterly loss of $0.50 per share, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.49 per share. This results in a negative earnings surprise of -133.56%, which means the company's actual earnings were significantly lower than what financial analysts had predicted for the quarter. A key reason for the poor results is a pre-tax charge of $337 million. This charge is mainly due to delays on a large Construction Management project. The company now expects this project to be completed near the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2027, later than the original first-quarter projection. The stock's performance reflects these issues. Shares of Aecom are trading at $62.84, a decrease of 6.28% for the day. The stock also set a new 52-week low of $62.55, which is far from its yearly high of $135.52. The company currently has a market capitalization of approximately $8.08 billion.
