Requirements
  • The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • The candidate must hold current registration or be eligible for licensure with the State of Illinois to practice as a professional nurse (Registered Nurse).
  • Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, coordinate, and perform nursing care for an assigned group of patients and their families while incorporating preventative measures.
  • Assess the full scope of patient needs using the nursing process on a continuous basis.
  • Use past nursing experience to anticipate problems and seek multidisciplinary collaboration when necessary.
  • Recognize patterns and trends that may predict the direction of illness.
  • Promote safety throughout patients' and families' transitions along the healthcare continuum.
  • Anticipate and monitor changes in patients and families and respond appropriately.
  • Resolve patient complaints effectively.
  • Engage all patients in a personalized, compassionate manner.
  • Consult and coordinate with team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Use evidence-based practice and customer service data to improve caring practices.
  • Plan and communicate patient care plans effectively.
  • Facilitate active involvement of others in team meetings regarding patient care or practice issues.
  • Seek opportunities to be taught, coached, and mentored.
  • Recruit diverse resources when appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a resource to the department and patients' families.
  • Integrate cultural differences into patient and family care and incorporate appropriate alternative therapies.
  • Tailor healthcare delivery to meet the diverse needs and strengths of each patient and family.
  • Develop and modify patient and family education programs throughout care delivery in collaboration with healthcare providers and educational plans.
  • Provide individualized care.
  • Evaluate patients' understanding by observing behavior changes throughout the plan of care.
  • Set patient-driven goals for education.
  • Work toward achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Adapt standards of care to serve particular patient populations.
  • Seek advice to improve patient care.
  • Evaluate current practices based on patient responses, literature analysis, research, and education.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice into care delivery.
  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred.
