Join our team as a Residential Energy Efficiency Consultant, supporting energy efficiency programs in New York. Working closely with the client and our implementation team, you’ll focus on high performance new construction practices, providing safer, more energy efficient homes, and ensuring energy grid stability across the State of New York.
This role will enjoy a mix of office based and field-based, independent, and flexible work schedule that allows you to experience something new every day! This role works closely with the client, partners, and our ICF team members to not only provide account management services and conduct field inspections during and after project completion, but also to provide outreach, recruitment and technical support, identify actionable solutions, and drive continuous improvement and best practices in energy efficient new construction.

Perform trade ally outreach and recruitment across upstate New York by presenting program offerings and distributing program marketing material to raise program awareness across multiple strategic trade ally locations including homebuilder associations, building departments, permit offices, and more.
Attend events to build and maintain relationships with key market actors in the home construction industry including builders, architects, engineers, contractors, energy raters, consultants, home inspectors, public officials, and customers.
Provide program-specific guidance to assist builders, developers, architects, contractors and other trade allies in navigating utility-sponsored new construction programs. Must be able to effectively communicate to both technical trade allies and non-technical audiences.
Interact with HERS raters, builders, and developers regarding energy efficiency best practices, building science fundamentals and recommend energy efficiency improvements.
Conduct strategic field-based site visits with trade ally HERS Raters and Homebuilders to provide Quality Assurance / Quality Control and forecasting updates on participating residential new construction projects ensuring that the evaluation, implementation and verification of utility sponsored energy efficiency projects are successfully executed.
Perform visual inspection of projects under construction including HVAC equipment, insulation, windows and household appliances.
Perform desktop Quality Assurance / Quality Control to review and verify energy model accuracy and adherence to program standards, utilizing data collected during site visits and/or project building plans.
Regularly review program QC findings. Based on the findings, leverage best practices and continuous improvement to implement long term solutions in partnership with the client and ICF team.
Generate inspection reports to audit, monitor and measure performance and relevant metrics.
Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 25% to 50% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)
What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of related energy efficiency experience or relevant experience in the residential construction industry.
2+ years of related energy efficiency experience or relevant experience
Must be able to pass an MVR and background check.
What we would like you to have:
Industry certifications including, but not limited to:
RESNET-certified HERS Rater
Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Energy Manager or Energy Auditor
Expertise in single family construction sectors.
Expertise in business management, building construction, energy resources, or energy policy.
Professional affiliations including, but not limited to: BPI, RESNET, AESP, ACEEE, ASHRAE, or AEE.
Knowledge of residential energy-efficient building applications, renewable technologies, or high-performance construction practices and technologies
Investigative mindset to identifyenergy efficient building solutions.
Familiarity with energy modeling software platforms REM/Rate or Ekotrope
Demonstrated ability to provide project leadership and meet client goals.
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
Detail-oriented mindset to fine tune and improve processes.
Ability to be flexible and handle multiple priorities.
Experience working as part of a cross functional team.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint).

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$59,469.00 - $101,098.00New York Remote Office (NY99)
