Square Messages is a messaging platform designed to help our customers (merchants) grow their businesses by creating more opportunities for connecting directly with their own customers

As the Design Lead on Square Messages, you will lead a small team of designers on a fast paced team growing one of our most promising new products. You’ll work on a dynamic mix of platform and product challenges that are important to the future of Square, in your capacity as manager as well as IC contributor when required.

We’re looking for a leader with a proven track record in both product design and product strategy, to help paint the future of our product across all touchpoints, and innovate in an ambiguous and rapidly changing industry.

You Will:

• Partner closely with your cross-functional peers to define and execute on a bold multi-year strategy.
• Promote an outstanding design practice, lead strategy and ensure product execution.
• Inspire, mentor, grow and manage a team of experienced designers.
• Implement systems and processes for the betterment of the businesses, our customers, and the team.
• Provide guidance of your team’s output, facilitating partnerships and the design process.

Qualifications

You Have:

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience and 2+ years of people management
• You have led teams that have contributed to high impact projects for your company
• You have proven experience leading product strategy for your cross-functional teams
• You have experience effectively collaborating and maintaining relationships with a large range of stakeholders
• A diverse portfolio of work that illustrates your ability to have impact and lead at the project level, product level, organization level, and company level
• You Implement and lead processes that solve difficult problems and influence across an ecosystem of products
• Experience in the fields of messaging, E-commerce or AI is a plus
