Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position.

  • Ability to communicate on multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance is necessary.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience is not required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a security culture, including crisis response, a strong safety environment, and crowd management planning.
  • Implement daily and weekly Assets Protection workload priorities to support business priorities and deliver on goals.
  • Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
  • Implement strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and leadership guidance.
  • Partner with, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
  • Lead a team of hourly team members.
  • Deliver guest experience commitments and ensure consistent operations.
  • Train team members on guest experience commitments and operations, provide feedback, and hold them accountable.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and improve results.
  • Support total store sales and profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available.
  • Influence and validate physical security and safety processes and participate in emergency crisis situations.
  • Create security plans for in-store events.
  • Educate teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support talent planning and performance management.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends and develop tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Develop team schedules and adjust them based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
  • Own prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including merchandise protection budgeting.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices and audit execution.
  • Implement and follow up on operational changes directed by the leader.
  • Order merchandise protection devices and manage the allocated merchandise protection budget.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to team members, peers, and leadership.
  • Maintain relationships with store and district leaders, law enforcement, and other internal and external partners.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and support team onboarding and learning.
  • Close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
  • Demonstrate and enforce ethical conduct, compliance, inclusivity, and safety expectations.
  • Serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents and execute required procedures.
  • Execute safety program management routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target's interests.
  • Model physical security processes and support merchandise protection strategies across the store.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
