Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience building native Android applications
  • 2+ years in an engineering management role, growing and developing high-performing mobile teams
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex mobile products with robust architecture and maintainable codebases

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and people leadership to a team of Android engineers. Own team planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality features and platform improvements.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, deliver timely and constructive feedback, support career growth, and foster a team culture of inclusion, psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define team priorities, technical roadmaps, and long-term platform investments aligned to business goals. Establish clear technical direction in collaboration with senior engineers and cross-functional partners.
  • Define and maintain standards for code quality, testing, performance, and security. Implement processes to enable greater development velocity without sacrificing technical quality.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, QA, and backend teams to scope features, assess feasibility, align on priorities, and ensure the successful delivery of initiatives.
  • Deeply understand the product and user experience to make informed technical and architectural decisions that tie back to customer and business goals.
  • Contribute to the Android codebase, review pull requests, troubleshoot complex bugs, and help resolve architectural or project bottlenecks. Lead by example and serve as a mentor and unblocker for the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting teams through the adoption of Compose and the shift toward modularized, scalable codebases
  • Experience building or integrating developer tools or automation that boost team velocity and efficiency
  • Familiarity with best practices in implementing CI/CD pipelines and overseeing the mobile app deployment lifecycle
  • Have fintech and/or startup experience

Current provides digital banking services via a custom platform called Current Core, delivering accessible and affordable premium banking to individuals and teens. Users open a mobile account, receive early direct deposits, have free overdraft up to $100, enjoy cash-back rewards, free ATM access, and can deposit cash and checks via mobile app. Revenue comes from subscription fees for premium accounts and interchange fees from card usage, with the Current Core stack enabling faster, more stable, and cost-efficient transactions. The goal is to improve financial outcomes by making banking accessible, affordable, and feature-rich for a broad consumer base, including teen banking, with transparent pricing.
