Requirements
  • Be licensed in the state of Wisconsin as an MD or DO with specialization in psychiatry
  • Board-eligible physician. Board certification preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university and medical school
  • Successful completion of a Graduate Medical Education accredited residency and/or fellowship program, if working with children additional residency with this age group must have been obtained
  • Two years or more experience working in a psychiatric hospital or clinic
  • Be registered with Medicare as a community provider, or able to be registered
  • Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization is preferred
  • Experience with process improvement implementation preferred
  • Moonlighting Residents or Fellows: Be enrolled in a GME accredited residency and/or fellowship program and have completed at least two full years of psychiatric residency
  • Be registered or able to be registered as a physician with Medicare and other payers as a licensed provider
  • Previous work or moonlighting experience working as a psychiatrist in another licensed hospital, preferred
Responsibilities
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Conduct medication management sessions with patients
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Conduct patient psychiatric evaluations and assessments
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Conduct history and physical
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Create patient treatment plans and manage updates
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Perform patient and family education
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Participate in team and unit meetings
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Create discharge plan creation
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Provide collaboration with nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Provide oversight of medical residents and fellows working on the unit
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Participating in the established call schedule
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Service as attending physician for assigned units
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Round on patients as required
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Complete emergency detentions of patients as may be needed for patients in one of our inpatient hospitals, including all required paperwork and necessary interactions with regulatory agencies
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Medication education with nursing staff
  • Attend Patients at the Site: In-service treatment team, as needed
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Meet patient productivity standards
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Complete all coding and documentation standards in compliance within organizational expectations
  • Attend Patients at the Site: Attend the Medical Staff meeting and the Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting
  • Payor Relations: Assist in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all contracted payors
  • Payor Relations: Review of all denials of service from all payors that are deemed for medical reasons
  • Payor Relations: Interface with referring parties, the psychiatrist, primary care physician, to coordinate care, aftercare
  • Payor Relations: Market Employer as appropriate, to include off-site meetings and marketing activities
  • Payor Relations: Review potential admissions, pending cases, and declined admissions, as needed, to assure Employer policy execution and compliance with EMTALA
  • Advocate: Serve an advocate for the organization
  • Advocate: Physician will provide support, information, education and services
  • Advocate: Participate in Employer’s quality assurance and performance improvement activities and meetings
  • Advocate: Take an active role in identifying new program development opportunities for patient care services and Employer
  • Advocate: Participate in community education of behavioral health issues
  • Admissions Support: Provide initial placement recommendations based on admitting criteria, clinical parameters, medical history and documentation obtained through screening process provided by prospective patient or representative
  • Admissions Support: Review and evaluate completed admission screenings to determine appropriate program, level of care, and mode of delivery for prospective patient
  • Admissions Support: Communicate professionally and accurately
  • Admissions Support: Refer to and work with other departments and agencies as needed
  • Admissions Support: Report pertinent data to the attending provider and others on the team
  • Admissions Support: Prioritize effectively and consistently in situations requiring immediate attention versus postponement
  • Admissions Support: Immediately communicate difficult problems with referents
  • Admissions Support: Develop and maintain relationships with medical staff and other providers across RBH for ongoing re-review or other case communication
