Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three years of guest service or hotel experience, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • Ability to stand and move frequently throughout the facilities.
  • Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use a keyboard to generate correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to handle objects, products, and equipment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests, employees, and third parties in a manner reflecting positively on the hotel, brand, and company.
  • Ability to read and write for paperwork and management reports, interpret results, give and receive instructions, and train employees.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including budgeting, profit and loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Ability to travel to workshops, conferences, and similar events.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and assignments of hotel staff and assist the General Manager with departmental strategies and goals.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Recommend or initiate salary, disciplinary, staffing, and human-resources actions in accordance with company rules and policies.
  • Alert the General Manager to potentially serious issues.
  • Ensure staff members are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to perform their functions.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring financial and operational plans for the hotel.
  • Manage front office, revenue, and reservation functions to ensure superior guest service, secure financial and guest information, and achieve established goals.
  • Manage food and beverage operations, including breakfast and/or Sundowner functions when applicable.
  • Manage housekeeping and maintenance functions to maintain quality and brand standards.
  • Establish and implement inspection procedures for guest rooms, suites, public areas, linens, restrooms, lobbies, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs protect the hotel's physical assets.
  • Foster positive employee relations and reconcile time edits and payroll administration in compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Ensure the guest convenience store is stocked, orderly, and appealing; monitor inventory and order replenishments.
  • Monitor and report budget variances and control labor costs and other expenses.
  • Establish and implement service recovery guidelines and respond promptly and professionally to guest complaints or concerns.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local laws concerning health, safety, and alcohol services.
  • Foster positive owner relationships and provide ongoing information and status reports when applicable.
  • Recommend capital improvements to enhance company assets and brand loyalty.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
  • Interact with guests, owners or principals, vendors, regulatory agencies, professional organizations, community groups, and local media as needed.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as General Manager in the General Manager's absence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous extended-stay experience or experience in a hotel of similar size and complexity.
  • Other language proficiency.
