Requirements
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Experience with materials processing and manufacturing technologies
- An understanding of materials science and the chemical interactions within material systems
- Knowledgeable of design-of-experiment techniques
- Integration of COTS electromechanical systems for prototyping of manufacturing equipment
- S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science or other related field
- Experience with mechanical design and structural analysis a plus
Responsibilities
- Rapid development of materials and components through prototyping and built-and-test methods
- Development of custom materials processing and manufacturing techniques for the design of novel materials
- Design and formulation of polymeric and composite materials
- Manufacturing of components with novel material systems
- Maturation of processing and manufacturing equipment and processes for improved reliability in component fabrication
- Collaboration with both in-house employees and out-of-house partners and vendors for the design, evaluation and manufacturing of novel material systems
