Requirements
- Experience playing the piano or keyboard.
- Ability to read music from the Armed Forces Hymnal and liturgical resources.
- Competence demonstrated through an audition with the Command Chaplain.
- Ability to obtain a contractor badge within five working days of contract award and display it while performing duties.
- Attendance at an orientation briefing provided by the Memorial Chapel staff.
- Ability to perform the required services without supervision or direction by Government personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide piano support every Sunday and on Festival Days, including accompaniment.
- Perform and conduct the weekly Protestant Worship service every Sunday at 9:00 AM.
- Perform and conduct Festival Day services at the Command Chaplain's scheduled time.
- Consult weekly with the Protestant Chaplain or Staff Chaplain regarding selection and performance of Protestant service music.
- Participate in coordination meetings with the Command Chaplain or Staff Chaplain.
- Complete at least one hour of self-rehearsal per week.
- Provide piano accompaniment and musical support for command-sponsored special services and associated rehearsals, including Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance, National Day of Prayer, Blessings of Nurses, Blessings of Animals, the 9/11 Remembrance Service, and Command Memorial.
- Provide a qualified musical substitute when unavailable for a regularly scheduled worship service and notify the Chaplain at least seven days in advance.
- Inform the Command Chaplain upon discovery of any piano malfunction requiring service.
- Remain professionally current through personal study, training, conferences, workshops, and seminars at the contractor's own expense.
- Obtain a contractor badge within five working days of contract award and display it while performing duties.
- Attend an orientation briefing provided by the Memorial Chapel staff.
